The Moon is there. Even if you don’t look at it. So is anthropocentric arrogance.

A DIFFERENT RECONCILIATION

  1. The equations of fundamental physics may be reversible and sometimes acausal/indeterminate, but the real world of nature is irreversible, deterministic and fully causal. Those equations need some tweaking.
  2. “Free will” is a stubborn myth, but humans are not robotic because we can modify our behavior using trial/error, feedback loops, and learning from experience.
  3. Quantum mechanics still involves a lot of smoke and mirrors. For example, no one understands the electron, nor can anyone retrodict or explain its mass. We still lack a consensus on what the black box of QM tells us about how nature really works, or even whether the Schrodinger wavefunction is an abstract probability or a physical entity.
