Cold Turkey On Social Media

I am not a user of Facebook, Twitter, or TikTok. There are some benefits to this.

1. A lot of time for doing more productive things.

2. Avoidance of a great deal of lies, disinformation, unwanted drama, trivia, stress, commercialism, etc.

3. A considerable amount of insulation from the malfeasance of criminal perps.

4. Avoidance of significant amounts of data vacuuming and resale by “legal” perps.

There are safer and better ways to keep up-to-date on anything that interests you, as well as maintaining contact with family, friends, colleagues, etc.

I don’t get it. An objective cost/benefit analysis would seem to heavily favor going cold turkey on most social media platforms. Are we masochistic? Well-trained and addicted? Am I missing something?
