Good physics is conceptually simple.
It is also derived from careful and thorough observation of nature.
That is why string theory, supersymmetry, and the many attempts to create quantum gravity theories have failed to deliver the goods. They have been obsessed with mathematical elegance and were willing to throw in multiple hypothetical dimensions, and scores of hypothetical particles in order to make the abstract contraptions work.
Darwin’s evolutionary theory and Einstein’s relativity theories are prime examples wherein the simple concepts offer the path to, and the fundamental organizing principles of, nature’s unbounded complexity, which still unfolds for us. The details have become amazingly numerous and complicated, but the underlying conceptual principles are simple.
Stay safe, and keeping looking up from the hieroglyphics on the paper (or black board) to the real world on nature.
