I agree with much of what you have said here. The system has been badly corrupted and few can completely dissociate themselves from that corrupting influence.

On the other hand I think you are way too hard on the Post and Times. They print the Pentagon Papers, report on the Panama Papers, take on climate change deniers, they regularly expose the shady dealings of the Big Money people and their political minions, and they report on many forms of injustice that are taking place. I think that, given the system that they have to work in, they shine a light into very dark places far more often than they cave in to financial/political pressures.

Media bashing is far too Trumpy for me. This “enemy of the people” phrase that gets hurled at the press is a stock fascist stratagem.
