Gravitationally bound structures in general relativity do not participate in the global expansion, and it is only our “local” observable portion of the cosmos that is expanding.
The 120 orders of magnitude (!!!) disparity between the vacuum energy density predicted by quantum theory and the VED measured by astrophysicists is a humongous conflict that cannot be ignored. The fractal model linked to above also shows how to resolve this enigma.
