Inflation’s Weirdest Prediction
My favorite explanation for the absence of magnetic monopoles is that cosmological inflation diluted their abundance so extremely that only one magnetic monopole might exist in the entire observable universe. It’s out there, somewhere. You just gotta believe brothers and sisters.
Of course, there is a simpler explanation for their complete empirical absence and it agrees with everything that we have learned about the real world of nature.
