Neutrinos: Ever-Lower Mass Limits

A new preprint just posted to arxiv.org by a research collaboration claims improved empirical limits on the sum of the masses of the three types of neutrino.
Could there be something subtly wrong with the “flavor-changing”/massive neutrino scenario?
If neutrinos turn out to be massless, then the radical hypothesis discussed in the link below could be right, and if it is, then that would truly revolutionize particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology.
