Numen, God and Nature

The question might be whether the numen is a god presiding over nature, or nature itself, without a supernatural “ghost in the machine” . Einstein and Spinoza strongly preferred the latter idea because in their opinion nature alone had more than enough power, beauty, ability to inspire total awe, undeniable existence, and explanatory potential.
