Hillary’s public support was shaky from the get-go.

Bernie energized young people to get involved. That he got as close to the nomination as he did without Big Money backing is proof of something not acknowledged in this piece.

There were equal amounts of mud slung on both sides in the primary race, and there was a good deal of effort to undermine Bernie’s candidacy by the Democratic Party and those who thought Hillary was a sure thing.

Maybe the real failure here was the stubborn insistence of the Dems to stick with a mainstream candidate at a time when the country was fed up with “the elites” of the mainstream and craved an outsider. I think Bernie would have trounced Trump because far more people would have come out and voted for that match-up , but we will never know. Pity.
