Perhaps you miss Attenborough's implicit message.

Humans act in their own self-interest.

However the Uber-Businesses, their Lobbyists, and their Political Toadies have done their very best to effectively misinform the public about what is truly in their best interest.

It is in everyone's best interest if we have a 2-3 children norm with kids getting a high quality life and education. But the forces of greed make too many live in poverty and that short-circuits the small family model.

It is in everyone's best interest if we use the land more wisely (see "Kiss The Ground" [Netflix] for a serious eye-opener). But Big Ag, Big Chem, and Big Energy, spend zillions to continue destructive agriculture.

It is in everyone's best interest to eat nutritional and sustainable food. But the same jerks flood the media with advertising for low quality food, and welcome "food deserts".

It is in everyone's best interest if we transition from fossil fuel dominance to renewable fuel dominance. But Big Energy lies about environmental destruction and promotes a destructive path forward.

Attenborough's implicit message is that this should be obvious with a little education. He and many others are trying to provide a clear education on what is going wrong. Then we need to return to true democracy wherein the Uber-Corporate Greed Mongers cannot buy politicians with their cash, and lobbyists cannot bribe officials. No gerrymandering and fair elections.

Once people see what is genuinely in their own self-interest, and what is clearly not, they will demand change. Better late than never!
