If this new research is verified then all the smoke and mirrors of quantum mechanics are explained by Einstein’s relativity, and he was right all along.

This could be a total game-changer for physics.

However, after reading the paper carefully I am less enthusiastic. The analysis involves taking superluminal solutions of Special Relativity as physically real, and seems to rule out local, deterministic interpretations. Causality is strongly questioned in some circumstances and spacetime can in some circumstances be 1 spatial and 3 time dimensions, instead of the usual 4+1 spacetime we are familiar with. Yikes!
