Those who conflate the observable universe with the Universe are doing a disservice to science and to the public.

There is strong evidence that our local Hubble Bubble underwent a rapid expansion 13. 8 billion years ago, give or take a few hundred million years.

However, the idea that the observable universe represents the entire Universe is unproven and Ptolemaic (i.e., a form of ‘what you see is all there is’ pseudoscience). It is a gross failure of both logic and the imagination.
