The comment above was originally a “response” to a “story” that appeared to combat a form of chauvinism with an equally unfortunate form of chauvinism. If one wants a world in which we are all treated as true equals, it hardly helps to divide people into Us/Them categories, with all the prejudicial connotations of that device. There is far too much finger-pointing and shaming going on today, and far too little effort at mutual understanding and cooperation.

Alas, my response was almost immediately ‘disappeared’. I’m not a big fan of censorship, so here it is again in a safer place.
