I am a big fan of Bernie Sanders. I admire his ideas, independence of thought and consistent integrity.

In the future the progressive movement needs a younger version of Bernie with charisma (AOC?). Critically, the progressive movement needs to (in my opinion) stop using the term “socialism” entirely. Many people do not, unfortunately, distinguish between real world communism, classical socialism and democratic socialism, which are very different. The S-word is fodder for the Koch network oligarch cadre’s attack ads, and blasphemy to many of the less privileged folks. I have suggested the alternative term: altruist, as in democratic altruist. No doubt someone could come up with something better.
