Little children and even physicists hopefully learn empirically that there is an inviolable the arrow of time in the macrocosm.

On the other hand, physicists (at various educational levels) I have argued with personally have assured me that in the microcosm (atomic scale and below) the laws and interactions are reversible and time symmetric. The electron and positron can annihilate into 2 gamma rays, and two gamma rays can interact to produce an electron-positron pair. They all claimed that there was no arrow of time in the realm of smoke and mirrors.
